About Me

Rodney Dee

Art Psychotherapist/ Artist

As a fully qualified art psychotherapist, graduating in 2015 from the University of Roehampton, my training has been underpinned by a theoretical understanding of child developmental and psychodynamic principles alongside art therapy theory and Jungian analytical psychology.

I’m a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have previously worked for various organisations facilitating individual and group therapy and providing clinical supervision to trainees. I have considerable experience supporting children, adolescents and young adults in schools and community settings and am adept at working with other professionals and agencies as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

As a clinician, I am open, honest and inclusive. My approach to working is psychodynamic – I’m interested in how past experiences may have influenced you, both consciously and unconsciously, informing the way you think, feel and behave.

Should talking about experiences be too difficult, I may invite you to try different creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, colouring, or sculpting as an alternate means of expression. One of the benefits of art psychotherapy is that it’s not dependent on complicated speech. Clients have benefited greatly from being able to experiment and use artmaking materials as a means of communicating concerns or experiences that might otherwise be too hard or painful to put into words.
